"Latina/hispanic (white passing)" is what I’ve been thinking about lately … white passing… but I’m still latina/hispanic. Sometimes people notice that and tell me that I look non-white or “mixed" as they term it and other times I’m told I look straight up white. Even when people say that I look like other people (like, ‘oh you look like this actress…’) the comparisons that I’ve gotten are on the oppositie ends of the spectrum - For example, I get that I look like Audrey Hepburn alot (I don’t actually think so) but then I’ve gotten compared to alot of biracial women like Alicia Keyes and Zoe Kravitz more than once so I really don’t know what to think. Granted, I don’t actually look like these women but there must be something to getting those comparisons multiple times. End rant. I don’t know where this is going but I’m confused about how I am perceived by others and I don’t know why it shifts so drastically. It doesn’t ultimately matter but it harkens questions of identity and identity politics.
