lol @ white middle class women who ironically wanna start a “girl gang” i fucking hate you “girl gangs” in the brown community are subject to dehumanization of all forms as they are funneled into the prison system. “girls” end up in solitary confinement for months at a time. they often suffer their whole lives as a result of the trauma brought on by the prison industrial complex.  and to you it’s an aesthetic, some cute idea for you to form your identity around. disgusting.

?????
because there is one meaning of gang and one history of “gang” and it’s all negative??? fyi gangs were not always associated with violence…gangs were/and can be a positive thing…and gangs span across race and class even though the term gang has been racialized and turned into a negative thing via the media. and i guess it’s being assumed that all women who congregate in groups (b/c of power in numbers) or wish to do so are talking about it for aesthetic purposes? no, there are very valid reasons for WOMEN wanting to congregate in groups…because things like RAPE happen to women regardless of what race or class they are. yes, regardless of race, if girls/women have the will/want to congregate in groups because the world is a fucked up place for women walking alone in creepy places at night (or something like that) and whether you feel it’s aesthetisized or not (AND fyi, gangs are all about aesthetics and that spans from skate gangs to the fucking crips so…), it’s a valid idea and what is wrong with having ideas like that and talking about them and wishing for them… i’m so tired of the bashing going on under the guise of third wave feminism…instead of that maybe we should exalt each others ideas and have constructive discourse about them. and fyi, middle class is an obsolete idea at this point of latent capitalism - everyone is fucking poor. nobody owns any wealth. we’re all fucked..yes, it’s important to recognize that people come from different backgrounds/different struggles and acknowledge all women’s voices but bashing someone for being “middle class” is absurd and devaluing a woman’s voice because you think she is so-called middle class is highly problematic. MORE DIVISION. THAT IS WHAT WE NEED? no. let’s all recognize that there is not one way to “advance the cause” and there isn’t one way to look at things. as a mixed latina/white woman, I am tired of all of this racialized feminist bashing going on. there is a difference between discourse/criticism and just plain bashing of other women’s ideas/struggle/validity as a human being. I’m going to conclude with bell hooks: "Dialogue implies talk between two subjects, not the speech of subject and object. It is a humanizing speech, one that challenges and resists domination." no one should be talking down to any one and the above text post is both dehumanizing and condescending. END RANT.
